Ash Wednesday, 2018
Christ, the Resurrected Lord, seen by many-
To Mary Magdalen and Apostles too;
Seen as one transfigured, human;
Changed by the glory of the Cross.
The Word of God still had much to teach
To disbelieving ones about a new discipleship of life;
To those who were missioned to testify-
That Christ, the Life, lives on.
He, who looks like one of us, comes through closed doors.
He, no longer bound by physical laws;
The same embodied man, but new.
He has a different manner of existence.
He takes again some bread; He gives thanks;
New fellowship, new share in real life-
To open from within their human hearts,
Recognition of the Lord’s heavenly banquet.
From deep within the heart of man,
Christ is recognized as truly alive.
Theophany shows a new dimension-
He, who comes from God, is also God Himself.
His fellowship with God His Father
Real; He’s not a ghost or spirit.
He comes from God, the source of life;
Christ Himself, too, is pure life.
New covenant renewal, He reminds-
You too, may share in my Father’s life.
You too, will share the power of my purifying suffering.
Thus, a new dimension comes into human life.
Forty days, 40 years, 40 centuries, measured by man,
To Christ and God His Father mean not the same.
For Christ, the teachings inspired by the Spirit,
Continue with the Church, today, tomorrow, forever.
