On A Rock
I Saw A Man
I saw a man covered in soot
From the top of his head down to a single boot
He seemed sad and almost helpless
He was who I should help today was my intuitive guess
He stank and his clothes were simply rags
What a society we’ve become it just gags
No one ever seems to stop to ask help or offer
Except for cruel words that continue to sting hours after
I approached with trepidation and some fear
Why I don’t know for I knew my Lord was near
He seemed unafraid and interested in me
So we left the road to shelter under a tree
He had nothing of earthly wealth
Yet he seemed knowledgeable even in his questionable health
He was educated but drugs had put him there
Soon after his friends and family stopped trying they did not care
I asked if he knew Jesus
He said he knew Him once
But with the mess he got in
Jesus didn’t need to be a comin’
I told the man of God’s unending mercy
That He saved us all with His Son whom we did crucify
He thanked me for the talk and sermon
Than asked me one simple question
Can you spare a way to feed me for I have no food
I was simply taken aback and answered yes I could
I hope my words from Jesus he heard
Cause his true food is in God’s Word
Beatitudes Beatitudes words for all of us
Given to us by Jesus so we would not fuss
Listen to them and heed
For they are some of the best food and that we always need
Amen
