All of the Blessed Saints
We start every mass and every prayer that we say with the Holy Sign of the Cross. A Holy symbol of vow and honor. Our testimony and rememberance of why we believe in Jesus Christ, God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. That powerful Trinity that created us, redeemed us and loves us.
The power of that sign visible to all that see us perform that action when we prepare to eat a meal, proves our dedication of Thanksgiving for the blessing that we are about to receive. No matter if it be a banquet or a small portion of bread and water. We are Thankful. It has been provided for us to nourish us and sustain us.
The Holy Cross is our symbol of Redemption in the precious blood of Jesus Christ. Serenely sating our souls in Peace. It comes from heaven above, from God Himself.
When the sign is made genuinely from the heart, it is a power that God Himself is performing through us as a reminder that without that cross, we would all be lost. Saving us through the most precious cross, that Jesus let His blood stain, tells us that our Father in Heaven is a powerful God. Willing to sacrifice Himself in the form of a human being, an only Son, naming Himself Jesus and then completing the action with true love between Himself and the creatures He created. Showing us that love is real and to not fear anything except for sin.
The sign of the Cross carries power from the Almighty and it would be good for us to remember and realize this.
When we see Jesus hanging on the cross, we are actually seeing God Himself and that in itself is a powerful thing. Our God, with all of the scourges, dirt, bruises, spittle and humility manifested as a result of our wretched sins, past present and future, should make us tremble with true contrition.
May we make the sign of the Cross with true respect and honor of our God who did the hardest thing imaginable as to suffer and die for us to save us.
With Honor and Glory I say, "In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit" Amen.
