Labor Day
The Carmelite order has its origins on Mount Carmel, in Palestine, where the great prophet Elijah defended the true faith in the God of israel, where he won the great battle against the priests of Baal. From time immemorial, this mountain has been considered a lush garden of Palestine and a symbol of fertility because of the prayers from Elijah to God for life giving rain after a very long drought.
Many great Saints such as Saint Therese of the Child Jesus, St John of the cross, Saint Maria Maddalena de Pazzi, St Pierre Thomas, Louis Martin, and many many more.
I am especially fond of the carmelites because of their sanctity and Holiness for the one true God. And because of the saints that have followed their rules and structure.
We have a sweet order of them in Valparaiso, Nebraska. They have become my friends through need of intercession. Always obliging with kindness and assurance of their powerful prayers resulting in sometimes miracles. If I would have become a nun, I would have chosen the Carmelite order, mainly because of the Little flower, Saint Therese. I believe I am a lot like her in her stubbornness and desire to listen to God's inspirations. Although I have a long way to go to perfecting that as she did. The Little flower resigned herself in all ways. Whether it be laboring or simply tolerating a mean person. All done with heaven and God as her focus, this world was her stepping stone, her chance to prove her love for a God who loves very much.
If you get a chance to read up on Saint Therese, the little flower, you will not be disappointed in finding new ways of how to deal with people and situations that you may struggle with. She is a saint for our times who will send down a shower of roses and help us in our intercession to Mary and to our almighty God in heaven.
