Conquering the Myth of Overpopulation with Math
The headlines march in lockstep together, each one a variation on a theme: preventing women from ending the lives of their children in utero causes women to die.
Here’s just a small sample of the headlines a Google alert set to catch news on abortion returns:
France 24: “US woman died after abortion law delayed urgent medical care”
The Guardian: “Harris blames Trump for Georgia abortion-related death: ‘What we feared’
Truthout: “This Georgia Mother’s Abortion-Related Death Was Preventable, Experts Say.”
If one stops reading at the headlines, one gets the impression the problem is the abortion ban. If one reads the article, another picture begins to emerge.
Amanda Seitz, Washington, D.C. Associated Press reporter, indicates that the death of the young Georgia mother didn’t come from an abortion ban. It came from the abortion pill combined with medical negligance. She blames Trump for, “…a young Georgia mother who died after waiting 20 hours for a hospital to treat her complications from an abortion pill…”
“Thurman sought help at the hospital for complications from taking an abortion pill two weeks after Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp signed a law that mostly outlaws abortion and criminalized performing one.”
Whoever provided that abortion pill is ground zero for Thurman’s death as well as that of her unborn child. Without it, the two would still be alive.
Here’s where the medical negligence comes into play:
“Even as Thurman developed sepsis, ProPublica reported, doctors at the hospital did not evacuate the remaining fetal tissue in her uterus with a procedure called a dilation and curettage, or D&C.”
The young woman died on the operating table, leaving behind her mother and six-year-old son.
Ms. Thurman already paid the ultimate price for her decision to end the life of her unborn child.
Ms. Seitz is quick to assure us that, “The suburban Atlanta hospital that reportedly delayed her treatment has not been cited by the federal government for failing to provide stabilizing treatment to a pregnant patient anytime within the last two years, an AP review of federal documents found.”
But they failed this woman. And they need to be held accountable for that failure. Especially because, if they aren’t, they may simply continue blaming Trump for engaging in medical negligence that costs other women their lives.
We don’t know, because the article didn’t cite it, where Thurman got the abortion pill that caused the problem in the first place. However, that does need to be tracked down. The person or clinic that issued that pill to her is guilty of murder and should be held accountable for two counts of it.
At the very least, the pill provider should be brought up on the following charges: one count of negligent homicide for the death of Ms. Thurman, one count of conspiracy to commit murder as they worked with Ms. Thurman to arrange the death of her unborn child, and one count of murder-for-hire.
The real tragedy is that even after abortion led to the death of a woman, those who support it will continue to use her as a political football to "prove" that women need abortion. That it's good for women and their families.
The real tragedy is that a woman like Amber saw pursuing her child's death as the only option for a better life for herself and her six-year-old child. Women deserve better than to be told that they must choose between the child in their womb and building a better life for themselves and their families. Women deserve to be given the tools, the resources, and the funding needed to climb their way out of the poverty they face or to pull themselves out of the abusive situations in which they find themselves without being told they've got to sacrifice their child's life to do it!
I know what it's like to be scared, pregnant, and facing what seems to be a future of no hope. I know the forces that can drive women to choose that route. And they deserve better because society deserves better. Where women go, society goes. If we want a better, stronger, healthier society we need to be willing to invest in helping women do better, grow stronger, and become healthier.
You don't have to choose between your child and your dreams. Take the money you would have given the abortionist who offers to sacrifice your child's life and invest it in yourself. You can take my free entrepreneurship training and learn how to build a business from scratch with nothing more than the problems you've faced and already know how to solve. I may not have money to give you, but I'll give you the tools to make your own way.
