How Much is Left on the Timer?
Let's say you decide to start going to Adoration. You find a local church that offers it and you find a day and hour that works for you. You start attending. Everything is going great for a few weeks until you accidentally make lunch plans, or sleep in, or your truck is hit by a bolt of lightning during the time you had allotted for Adoration. Other things magically pop up until finally one day six months later you are brushing your teeth and realize you haven't attended for the past three months. You sigh and think to yourself that you should probably start going again and decide to go next week...
Full disclaimer, I am 100% this person. I have resolved to go to Adoration for an hour every Thursday for God knows how many years. My resolution has been made and broken a thousand times. I was at my wit's end as I just happened to sleep right through the time I had picked to attend. So, about two months ago I decided to try something new. I decided that even if I do sleep in, even if I have a zillion plans, even if there is an oh so ominous thunder and lightning storm, I Will make it to Adoration. And so here I am. Today I slept about three hours longer than I normally do and missed the hour I had decided on attending. Everything stacked up, and by the time I left the house, there was no way I had an hour to spare for Adoration before I had to go to work. But I made it. I'm sitting in front of my God, thanking Him that I am able to spend time with Him. Today was twenty-five minutes, and over the past few months, the time I've been able to spend with Him has varied greatly; anything from ten minutes to an hour and a half. But I made it! And you can, too--even if it's just ten minutes.
