The Fifth Commandment - Part 4
The Era of Peace
Submitted by Thomas Stidl
An era of peace was predicted to the children during the apparition of the Blessed Virgin Mary at Fatima, Portugal. Is this prediction confirmed by biblical prophecy in the Christian Testament? The answer is a resounding yes. The Christian Testament, namely the Book of Revelations, predicts a millennial rule of Jesus Christ on earth. This means that for one thousand years, there will be peace on earth. Satan will be in chains. He will not be able to tempt anyone into sin. The early Church Fathers agreed with Saint John’s writings also. Many modern Popes including Saint John Paul II have also concurred on this prophecy. This is the time when the dead in Christ shall rise and join the living Christians to assist Jesus in ruling the earth. This is the time when all the teachings of God will be on all human hearts and minds. This is the time when mankind will beat their swords into plowshares and all wars will cease to exist.
This is the time of rest for the earth. You may recall that one day is like a thousand years and one thousand years is like one day in God’s eyes. You may also recall that God created the heavens and the earth in six days, but on the seventh day God rested. This will be our seventh day of one thousand years. This is our Sabbath Day of rest. For six thousand years, mankind mostly under Satan’s influence has been gumming up the works of God. The one thousand years or the seventh day will be filled with the cooperation and good will of all mankind. Each of us will seek to be a servant to each other not a boss.
To get to that time of peace and prosperity, mankind must learn a horrible lesson and suffer through the Great Tribulation. The Church must also purify Herself in order to experience this great gift of God. All mankind must learn its lesson not to hate anyone or subjugate any of his or her fellow human being. Our Declaration of Independence says it best when it declares that all men are created equal and are endowed with God-given rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Our Constitution especially in the Bill of Rights, confirms these God-given rights to free speech, freedom of religion, freedom to assemble, and the right to bear arms to defend oneself and family from all evil in the present age.
In the future kingdom, Love of God and neighbor will be the order of the day. Forgiveness of past wrongdoings by others will also be of great importance. This is the time of the physical kingdom of God on earth. It is our time to practice all virtues and put our complete trust in God who will defend us when the one thousand years are over. Again, Satan will be unchained after the thousand years of peace and prosperity to tempt all of mankind to make war with God. God will then crush him, and throw him into the lake of fire along with his followers. God will then purify the earth with fire, recreate the heavens and the earth, and give to mankind the new Garden of Eden to all the faithful. See you in the Garden.
Until next time, Laus Tibi, Christe. Deo Gratias. Gloria Tibi Domini. Praise be to God. See you in Paradise. Amen.
