To the Ends of the Earth: Character – Week 3, Day 2 - Discipline Means Understanding Our Limitations
One thing have I asked of the LORD, that will I seek after;
that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life,
to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to inquire in his temple.
Psalm 27:4
We dwell in the sanctuary of the Almighty Lord of the universe! Yet often we fail to grasp this awesome truth. The worries of life overwhelm us, and we forget that as believers we are citizens of heaven. God’s house is ours. No trouble is so great that it can rise higher than our Rock of Refuge. God has given us a place of protection in his Church. It is our sanctuary, our dwelling where we gaze upon the beauty of God, where we are safe from our enemies, and where we offer the sacrifices of our lives with joyful shouts of praise and thanksgiving.
All that we need is here in God’s house. We have been gathered in, and together with our brothers and sisters we live out the promises of God in our witness to the lost. From our safe shelter, we find the strength to be sent forth into the world to love those who are looking for a refuge from the terror of sin, sadness, and fear. Because we rest on a sure foundation, we can go out with songs of joy!
Questions for Reflection
Do you believe that you truly have a home in the sanctuary of God? What does this mean to you?
What worries in your life right now are making it hard to grasp this truth and live in the strength it offers you?
How can you show others the safety, peace, and joy of dwelling with God?
Praying with Scripture

is the place of our sanctuary. (Jer 17:12)
