November 2024 Feast Days
The ads continue to fill the spaces of each medium we consume media. They continue to galvanize fear to their viewers and listeners. October 5th marks exactly one month until Election Day. Many nationwide have taken part in early voting through the controversial method of mail-in ballots. Many will wait until November 5th to cast their vote, which is the best way to exercise one’s civic right to democracy.
Now, as Catholics, we may ask ourselves what can be done with 30 days left until we learn who will occupy the White House for the next four years. It may be easier said than done, but Catholics can do a lot to ensure the anti-Catholic ticket doesn’t win while also helping candidates who want to put Americans first into public office.
Pray
The most important task that every Catholic can do from now until Election Day is to pray. Take time to pray an extra rosary for the intention of God’s intercession for our nation. Ask your parish to have adoration in the days leading up to the election.
Educate
Learn about the topics at stake. Research how every candidate has fared on the important issues of our nation. With a clear conscience and informed mind, the right candidate will be elected.
Fast
Another spiritual practice for the next 30 days is fasting. Now, it is not just for food. Rather, it can be reduced screen time, walking to work, and many other world pleasures for God’s intercession for our nation.
Promote
Get the word out about the election. Call voters to ensure they are ready to go to the polls and vote. Encourage voters to be aware of polling places and important deadlines. Help the disabled get there or fill out an absentee ballot.
Every Catholic must take part in the election process. Vote, pray, educate, and evangelize.
