Cry Out to God
Every October, people will probably participate in one of the most coveted rituals of the month, attending a Haunted House or attraction.
Participants in this seasonal event will be in for a good scare. I live near one, and I couldn’t help but remember returning home on some weekends to get a parking spot only to set a staggering number of people waiting to enter the site for a good scare.
On a recent night, I muttered something out loud, and I quote, “You would think these people would be in line for God’s mercy?” It is trivial to see people so quick to be in line to get scared by actors for the Halloween event, yet when it comes to God’s grace and mercy, it gets thinner and thinner.
Many of us need to get our spiritual priorities in place. Otherwise, we will be in for a good scare come judgment day. We will be judged for the times we never proclaim God to others, forgive those who have injured us, or have not made the effort to seek forgiveness for the times we have injured others.
Some questions to ponder
When was the last time I have been to confession?
Do I have a plan to get to confession weekly or bi-weekly?
If it’s been a while since I have been to confession, what is holding me back? Is it shame? Is it guilt?
Will I set time aside asking God for his forgiveness?
Truly, God’s mercy is everlasting. It was freely given at no cost. Let’s seek his mercy.
