Resolving Inner Conflict
Deny Yourself
Eileen Renders
Whenever you are in prayer, at Mass, or in church and you become distracted thinking of the day ahead, or for preparation of guests arriving at your home, deny yourself. Should you be saying your nightly prayers and opening your heart to God, and you are distracted by a momentary pain somewhere in your body, deny yourself, and remain focused on God.
God denied His own needs and comfort to be sacrificed and nailed to the Cross to save us from our sins because He so much loves us and wants our love in return. Denying our pain, our thoughts of the remainder of the day, or evening is giving God our attention and love in any way available to us.
We can never give to God all that He has given to us, including what He deserves or desires from us. We can only attempt to do our best in small ways to show Him that we know, appreciate, and want to return our love in gratitude for the life He has given us.
It is good to keep foremost in our minds how much God loves us, to create us, to take on human form and come to earth to teach us and allow Himself to be nailed to the Cross to save us from Satan’s wiles.
Who in this world or the next can outdo Christ? Whatever we do for the love of God, He returns tenfold. He blesses us with good health, children with faith, a good job, contentment, wisdom, and much more!
Remaining focused on Jesus will also prevent the Evil One from taking away any glory that belongs to God. Remaining diligent and maintaining our focus on God is the most important part of each new day that God allows us to wake up and live a good, healthy, faithful and positive life.
