Blood of christ, falling upon the Earth in the agony
God has promised us that He will never give us more than we can bear. This is true. Have you ever been at the end of your rope and then after much suffering and prayer find relief? It comes. He is a good God. A merciful God. A loving daddy.
Some have quite a bit of suffering. Some have a small amount. I believe that it is in the offering of acceptance and surrender we shall know the amount. To learn the amount of the lesson, then we must also trust that our God is watching and hearing our prayers. It might feel as if we are wandering around lost and alone but He is right beside us. If we look hard enough we will sense it. Blessed are those who believe but have not seen.
Just because our prayers are not answered the way we believe they should be doesn't mean they aren't answered.
Crosses come in big and little sizes. They can be as heavy as a boulder or light as a feather. A cross is a cross nevertheless. When I contemplate on the heaviness of Jesus's suffering for our salvation it makes me embarrassed and ashamed that I would even ever dare to complain about mine. After all, the sufferings I endure will never compare to His.
If we look at a cross in a new light such as suffering for someone who needs saving and conversion or in Honor of His Holy Cross the burden seems a little lighter. Bearable, till we call on Him again for relief.
Understanding the crosses we bear can give us strength. We need not seek comfort so much as to seek surrender. I'm not saying to give up, and that the crosses that we bear aren't hurtful because miracles are always available. But it is God's choice, His will. The moment we understand this we can carry it.
The rich become poor. The hungry become fed. The sick become healed. All in each other's sufferings. Offered up with Love. Willingly offered to God as a sacrifice. A Holy petition to the One who suffered and carried the cross of our wretched sins. Heavier than any cross we could ever bear, there is hope and salvation for all.
