St. Andrew Novena
In 1980, Ronald Reagan and Jimmy Carter squared off for the White House. The confidence in the incumbent was shaky. End the summer’s end, Carter turned his dismal campaign into a tight race. Meanwhile, not many voters were not in awe yet of then-Governor Reagan.
In the final debate, Reagan and Carter squared off on many issues, yet each was looking for a chance to put the campaign away.
As Reagan made his final push as to why he should be president, he asked in his closing argument, “Are you better off today than you were four years ago?”
When Carter answered “No,” his campaign went down and Reagan became the 40th President of the United States.
Today, as we are just three weeks away from Election Day 2024, we must ask that same question once more.
To put what has happened in the last four years, we had Catholics attacked, the cost of grocery items increased, the cost of living climbs as it is hurting Americans, our border is flooded with many illegals, there are no jobs, and to top it all, we don’t have a clear leader. A leader was taken advantage of as his health continued to decline, the media censored the truth, and China continued to pose a threat.
There is war in Ukraine, the Holy Land, and even Sudan. Americans are divided.
America must be awakened with a clear conscience to turn the tide that we are in now.
It is time to rise, stand up, and vote to end what was brought about to America in the last four years.
To take it a step further, 88% of elected officials this year are up for re-election. Maybe it’s time to show those who have been in office for too long that it is time to step aside and let someone else address the issues plaguing our nation.
It’s time to reverse what has unfolded under the Biden Administration and vote for the real candidate who has produced and beaten everything that was against him.
So once again the question is: “Are you better off today than you were four years ago?”
