To God alone will I offer my credence!
God calls us to Change; What am I waiting for?
How do we know what He meant when he said; “You guide me along the right path for the sake of your name.” (Ps 23: 3). Without God at the helm of our walk we are destined to failure.
Just what is change in my life as far as God is concerned? “You belong to God, children, and you have conquered them, for the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world: accordingly, their teaching belongs to the world, and the world listens to them. We belong to God, and anyone who knows God listens to us, while anyone who does not belong to God refuses to hear us. This is how we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of deceit.”
(1 Jn 4: 4 - 6).
For a lot of us who have answered God’s call the question of change no longer confronts our path. But for the many who are still walking with closed ears are on a path that can lead to destruction. Listen to the words of Jesus; “My sheep hear my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish. No one can take them out of my hand.” (Jn 10: 27 - 28).
What can the words of God that promise eternal life make a difference in my tomorrow? Perhaps the truth that is on the edge of our hearing and understanding. “Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be given you.” (Mt 6: 33). Of course these words fall short of understanding to those who are looking for treasures that will satisfy their fallen nature.
The key word here is “World” , the very point of rejection from God’s grace and the highlight of the failure to trust in God and find the answers to lust and greed. It is the world and all of its environs that will not release our desires to find it. “Change”, if we find ourselves leaning towards the attraction of what the world promises it is time to seek a change of our rejection towards our baptismal promises even though most of us couldn’t respond due to our age. In the first letter of John (above) the teaching of non-believers are of the world and each one of its seditions.
We must find what is controlling our souls, keeping us from finding Christ within us and accepting the resolve of evil that wants our soul. Adhering to this theme is to find change and return to Christ and on the path to righteousness. That is a renewed heart and a new outlook on goodness that is God!
Paul said to the Ephesians; “Watch carefully then how you live, not as foolish persons but as wise, making the most of the opportunity, because the days are evil.” (Eph 5: 15 - 16).
