Christ then, Christ now, Christ is coming!
The Reality of God!
One woman asked for proof of God’s reality; how could we explain the presence of God that we believe in? Certainly she agreed that the words printed in the bible were proof for us but, who wrote these words and when? Let’s try to discern the meaning of the past when there was nothing and something beyond our finite mind opened the emptiness of eternity and here we are; eons later or all at once. Remember that the answer to the Big Bang theory is nothing can be created from nothing. There had to be some powerful entity that allowed the universe and all of its environs to be and how it evolved is not a question; it happened through a divine intervention we call God.
This of course will not satisfy the questioning of a curious person who is asking for some proof she can hold onto with her understanding of what the rest believe? We know that writing came into existence around 5,500 years ago in ancient Mesopotamia. Other nations relegated this form of communication between 3500 - 3000 BC. So, when we want to find when Sacred Scripture began as writing most biblical scholars believe the Book of Genesis would have been written around 1450 BC. What this tells us is that the use of Word to Mouth from fathers to sons related what their father told them about God.
When God created everything, including humanity there were no reporters on the scene preparing a by-line for a future news release. It took the passing of God’s manner of creation from a father to his son, to the next generation, and so on. Where the words communicated from one person to the next in a line of people can change from the first person to the last one. It never looks like the exact meaning from the first to generations to come. However, the theme generally remains the same. Adjectives and other grammar synonyms may change or get added according to the next speaker's understanding of communicating information he has heard.
Moses lived approximately 1391 BC to 1271 BC, 120 years. Since writing took place 91 years before his birth it is probable that he was responsible for much of the writing of Genesis or other Old Testament scripture. With hand-me-down knowledge of Creation and God who created everything we begin to see not only where all of this came into being we also can believe that God never had a beginning since eternity was him and all that he created.
For too many people today there is a tremendous amount of doubt that God even exists. And the sad irony of that is what will they see when they die and how will they respond when they find Christ sitting in the judgment seat in heaven? The hope is that they remember to ask Christ for mercy because that’s all they’ll have if they do not believe in a God who still will love them.
My hope is that this woman with her curious disbelief will find the answer she earnestly wanted.
