Plenary indulgences
When you hear the sirens blaring in response to an accident or peril in a home or in the streets make the sign of the cross and offer a prayer for those whom they are responding to. It is a good and holy thing. It sends comfort and salvation to those most in need. The EMTs and Firemen who are driving fearlessly to their aid, need protection and guidance of their abilities to aid those in distress.
The fear and pain of those waiting is unmeasurable and always need our prayers. The lights and sounds of those emergency vehicles provide hope. Our prayers can be an extra Plus in a dark situation. A beacon of light, where fear and desolation might be.
The Sign of the Cross directed to those most in need is powerful. The help to overcome fear was even committed to our Lord in the Garden of Gethsemane and at His Holy Passion by God Himself and the sorrow of His Mother Mary, helping Him to receive the blows with a love for us in unimaginable pain. It strengthened Him and made Him forge forward. So be it also for those we offer our prayers at the hearing of the sirens.
I pray someone will send me their love in the Sign of the Cross and their prayers, when I am in need. One good prayer, in the Name of Jesus, is worth all of the gold in the world.
The next time you hear the sirens, offer up with all the love in your heart, prayers to the Divine Doctor in Heaven. It will surely comfort the soul in need.
