To the Ends of the Earth: Character – Catholic Men’s Devotionals, Week 10 – Man of Conscience
Above all hold unfailing your love for one another, since love covers a multitude of sins. Practice hospitality ungrudgingly to one another. As each has received a gift, employ it for one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace.
1 Peter 4:8–10
The Catholic life is not a solo act. There are no loners in the Christian walk. We need one another as we journey toward our heavenly goal. And thanks be to God, those who have made the journey before us — the saints — move us to continue the work of sharing the Gospel on earth. From their place in heaven they cheer us on as we continue the race. They offer us counsel and comfort and challenge us to overcome our weaknesses and move forward in the strength of the Spirit.
Salvation is a journey that is best lived out in the company of other Catholics who walk with us. The Church is a refuge, full of worthy men and women who have committed to the cause of Christ. Together, our prayers cover a multitude of sins. As we worship together and seek the intercession of the saints, we stand united in purpose and strive together to complete the task to which we have been called.
