Two months until March for Life in DC: Some Advisories and Info So Far

The date is set for the annual March for Life in Washington, DC. Hundreds of thousands will descend on our nation’s capital on Friday, January 24th.

Last year, those who gathered in the snow were in for an experience of a lifetime. Despite the cancellations of some who were logistically close to DC, it was a record-breaking number as it returned to pre-COVID numbers.

March for Life Theme and Keynote

Recently, the foundation announced its theme Life: Why We March. It is fitting that it was picked as pro-lifers have a reason to march for life not just every January but every day.

The keynote speaker for the rally is Bethany Hamilton, the subject of a biopic soul surfer. There will be a pre-rally concert on the National Mall with Unspoken. Led by Chad Mattson, the band has surpassed eleven Top 15 hits, which include Reason, Start a Fire, and You’ve Always Been.  

Pre and Post March for Life Events

More information on pre and post-March for Life events will be made known later. In the past, some of those included a rally outside of Planned Parenthood the day before.

There will be a vigil Mass at the National Shrine on the 23rd at 5 PM. There will be a Holy Hour immediately after Mass. After this, every diocese will have its Holy Hour every hour throughout the evening, only to conclude with Mass at 8 AM the next morning.

Students for Life of America will host an all-day conference the day after the March for Life. Tickets for the event are going fast, so it may be wise to get them when they are still available.

Travel/Lodging

Blocks of rooms are set aside for those in town from the 23rd through the 26th of January at the Westin Hotel on 9th Street. The host hotel will also host its March for Life Expo, featuring a myriad of pro-life groups and a marketplace where attendees can stock up on pro-life items and gifts. The official hours will be released at a later time.
