Plenary Indulgences - Save the Dates for a Special Opportunity to Help the Holy Souls in Purgatory - November 1-8

Did you know? From Nov 1-8, you have a special opportunity to gain a plenary indulgence for a soul in purgatory each day by visiting a cemetery and praying for the dead.

This indulgence is a powerful act of mercy that helps release souls undergoing purification and bring them closer to Heaven. Here’s what you need to do:

1. Visit a cemetery
2. Pray for the deceased, offering your prayers for the souls in purgatory.

To receive the plenary indulgence, the usual conditions must also be met:

• Be in the state of grace and free from all attachment to sin, even venial sins (make an act of the will for this).
• Receive Holy Communion
• Pray for the traditional intentions of the Holy Father (not just any intention). An Our Father and a Hail Mary are common prayers for this. The 6 objective intentions of the Holy Father are as follows:
  • The Exaltation of the Church.
  • The Propagation of the Faith.
  • The Extirpation of Heresy.
  • The Conversion of Sinners.
  • The Concord between Christian Princes.
  • The Further Welfare of the Christian People.
• Receive Sacamental Confession (within 20 days)

Additionally, on All Souls’ Day (November 2), there’s another way you can seek a plenary indulgence— visit any church and pray an Our Father and the Creed for the faithful departed.
