Christ or Barabbas
The 2024 Election is just a hare under a week away. Voters have already taken part in early voting. Then, we have those who are preparing to go vote in person. Early voting has come and gone.
Whether we are waiting in line to vote or working the polls from set up to take, every voter must keep sharp and ears open.
Here is a breakdown of some parameters on Election Day
Poll Hours
Many polls will open at 7 AM and will close by 8 PM. If planning to vote before the polls close, be in line by 7:45 PM. If voting in the morning, get in line within fifteen minutes of opening. Remember every vote matters. Be sure to make it heard at the polls.
Every vote matters. Never waste an opportunity to cast a vote. Visit this site to find your polling place.
What Do I Need?
For first-time voters, a photo ID will be requested. Many states don’t require one at the polls (though they should). If a voter has been inactive for five years, an ID may be requested.
For those who were given a Mail-In Ballot by request and chose to vote at polls instead, the materials must be surrendered to the Judge of Elections completely. When it is all surrendered, a voter has a choice between casting a provisional ballot or voting on the machine.
Reporting A Problem
Election workers and poll watchers must do their part to ensure the election is fair and square. To report a concern, visit here for information according to one’s state.
Voting
Catholics are encouraged to be sure to vote with a clear conscience. They must not vote because of fear. Rather, vote for the one candidate who is willing to go to work for the American people and start a new chapter from the dark era the nation has endured the last 3.5 years.
Remember, Vote your conscience this election. Never compromise your beliefs when attacked by fear-mongering ads or intimidation from those who will coerce you to support their candidate. It comes a time for all Catholics to right up and stand tall.
Most importantly, pray for our nation during this time.
May God Save America
