Reflection on Psalm 2 “But God in heaven merely laughs. He is amused by all their puny plans”
“Take Courage! It is I. Don't be afraid.” Matthew 14:27
Linda appeared to be a person, who despite her blindness permeated an inner calm and outer joy. As Linda was guided to the platform to speak at our regular weekly prayer group, I couldn’t help feeling empathy towards her. I wondered to myself how hard it must be to live a life of total darkness.
Through coming to terms with her blindness, she learned to place her trust in Jesus, take his hand and get out of the boat and walk on the water. She shared that the secret is to have enough courage and trust to get out of the boat.
As her soft-spoken words pierced through my own spiritual blindness, I recalled my meager attempts of walking on the water. Whenever I tried to walk on the waters of life without God’s help, I found myself engulfed in the raging sea threatening to overcome me.
Thank you, Linda for helping me to trust in Jesus each day to get out of the boat. Jesus beckons each of us to walk on the water of life. Jesus protects us from the sometimes-raging waters that come into our lives. As I learn to place my trust in Jesus each day, He gives me the courage to step out in faith.
Prayer: “Jesus, I pray for the courage to get out of the boat, take your hand each moment of this day and walk on the water with you. Jesus, I trust in you.”
