How Far

How Far

I have walked this path by my self

In the distance I see my prize for the shelf

My achievement should I make it

No matter how far or how long I must not forfeit

Follow the rules of this game

And I will win not fortune or fame

But instead eternal joy and happiness

I must stay on the path and not digress

Lonely at times it will be

And oft not very pretty

It’s just two rules that must be obeyed

And if not I will feel dismayed

Love the one Who put me on this journey

Forgive and love all those around me

And the hardest part of it all

I must always be ready to be small

Almost there over the crest of this hill

Oh bother it seems even further what a pill

Well trudge on I shall

With my heart determination and smile

For if I don’t this wilderness is not forgiving

The result of stopping is not appealing

Nor knowing that if I do

I may not ever come to make it through
