Truth being real, the future of eternity for each of us is already Present!
Relating things in our future to our finger-tips can become problematic for some who think we are not prophets of unseen events. To say that in eternity there is no past and the future is already present is a reality of God’s presence that always IS.
Put that theme into a realistic understanding believing that God had no beginning and the presence is the eternal existence each of us will experience once we cross over from human life to eternal life forever. For man’s finite understanding that our present reality is all we have to rely on, stepping into this existence is too far beyond our imagination to comprehend. Yet, there are a number of scriptures that confirm this fact.
Christ will raise us up ”on the last day;” but it is also true that, in a certain way, we have already risen with Christ. For by virtue of the Holy Spirit , Christian life is already now on earth a participation in the death and Resurrection of Christ: (CCC 1002) And you were buried with him in Baptism, in which you were also raised with him through faith in the working of God, who raised him from the dead…If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. (cf Col 2: 12; 3: 1).
The scriptures speak of a “spiritual resurrection.” Paul speaks of this when he writes, “I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection…(Phil 3: 10). There is resurrection power available to you and me right now! The writer of Ephesians tells us, “God made us alive in Christ and raised us up with him…(Eph 2: 6) Already, he wrote, we have been immersed into the resurrection of Jesus. (Taken from the Book Rise! By Fr. Cerick, C.P.)
The teaching of truth regarding how we who are shown that there is a term we call “The collapse of Time” when the priest is speaking the words of consecration, it is Jesus at the Last Supper who is lifting the bread and saying, “This is my body“ as he is nailed to the Cross on Calvary. It is not a recurring event that we think about, it is the very moment that we are watching as the nails are driven into his Body. Each one at this moment is present when he dies on the cross. This places us at the instant Christ destroys sin and is freeing us from eternal death. Here we see that what is a past event from a human perspective is happening in the Now of our lives. Without a past or future in eternity everything is in a present reality.
Going to the Gospel of John he tells us; Rather than telling his readers to wait with patience, John wanted them to know that the resurrection could be experienced now. John unwanted to stress that the expectations of Christians weren’t just for the future, but in a real way could be realized now. John also was saying that the Holy Spirit is the continuation of Jesus in us now, and to some degree, his second coming had already occurred through the gift of the Holy Spirit.
In a real sense, the way we believe and live determines and displays the final judgment already.
(Again taken from Fr. Cedricks book, “Rise.”
It may be difficult for some to accept this teaching, but if we are to be with Almighty God in eternity which has no ending or past, we must realize that everything is in a present participle.
The words given to Moses at the burning bush of I AM states the eternal truth of God who always IS without beginning or ending. This is the premise that awaits, and already is the meaning of our resurrection. What Christ did we shall also be a part of since there will be only a presence with God, eternally.
Therefore what has happened in our element of time is already occurring at the moment we enter eternity with God. Consequently, in eternity we will not need to remember what our human past was like because God’s love will be the present truth and the presence of the Holy Trinity will be ours to enjoy with only love and peace which began in our acceptance of Christ’s Passion of Forgiveness and freedom from eternal death.
