Our Family Tree

     My skin might be white but my heritage comes from Israel. All of ours does. No matter what race or sex, our blood has been mingled at one time or other in our very distant past by a brother or sister of the tree of Jesus Christ. We are part of His family tree. If we look close and deep we can hear the words in the book of Deuteronomy 6:2-6. Our Gospel today. Moses spoke to the people telling them to fear God and keep His statutes and commandments which He enjoins to us and thus we shall have long lives. He tells them to be careful to observe them that they may grow and prosper the more. In keeping the promises of the Lord the God of our Father's, our lands will be flowing with milk and honey. All for obeying and revering the Almighty God. and acknowledging that He is God and God alone. Loving our God with all our hearts and souls and with all our might. See how we turned into people descended? He's still saying the same thing in this very day and age. 

     Our lands aren't looking too good if you'll notice. Something isn't getting done. Could it be lack of Love or self-ego as the culprit? Not revering God and God alone? We are all God's people. Why is there any question about it? Moses and Elijah and Abraham our forefathers started the way. If we are to call ourselves Christian ( Catholic), then we must follow the lead that they have given us. The Bible is our compass. Guiding us along this earthly path to our Heavenly home. Choose wisely, or you may end up descending instead of ascending.
