Demonic Attacks Are Real: The Truth Catholics and the World Can’t Afford to Ignore
Tomorrow, as Catholics, we're presented with an opportunity to make our voices heard in a way that reflects our faith and values. Voting isn’t mandated by the Catechism of the Catholic Church, but it is an avenue through which we can express our commitment to the truth, to protecting life, and to preserving the moral law as revealed by God. In this election, it’s essential to acknowledge that a vote for Democratic candidates means aligning with a platform that increasingly promotes policies contrary to Catholic teachings.
Defending the Sanctity of Life
The sanctity of life is a foundational principle of our faith, clear from the earliest moments of Scripture. Psalm 139:13-14 declares, “For it was you who formed my inward parts; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; that I know very well.” Here, God shows that every life is crafted by His hand and worthy of protection. The Democratic Party’s firm support of abortion, even to the point of unrestricted access, directly contradicts this fundamental belief and is intrinsically evil.
In Exodus 20:13, we read the clear commandment, “You shall not murder.” Supporting leaders and policies that promote abortion is supporting the taking of innocent life—a grave offense against God’s law. The party’s stance on this issue is not only a matter of policy but a moral statement that contradicts the Gospel of Life.
Abortion itself is not just a sin against life; it is a demonic parody of the Incarnation. In the Incarnation, we celebrate God entering the world in flesh, humbling Himself to become a vulnerable child in Mary's womb. Abortion is its opposite, as it rejects and destroys innocent life within the womb instead of revering it. As Catholics, we cannot ignore this perverse mockery of God’s work. In rejecting the gift of life, abortion becomes a profound rejection of God Himself.
Protecting Religious Freedom
Our freedom to live out our faith is increasingly under fire. Many Democratic leaders advocate for policies that undermine religious liberties, pressuring individuals and organizations to act against their convictions on issues of gender, marriage, and family life. As we see in 1 Peter 3:15, we are called to “always be ready to make your defense to anyone who demands from you an accounting for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and reverence.” Supporting policies that force us to compromise our beliefs silences that testimony and hinders our ability to live and speak the truth.
Marriage and the Natural Family
The concept of marriage as a union between a man and a woman, rooted in natural law and Scripture, is now viewed as intolerant by much of the current political left. Jesus speaks clearly on the matter in Matthew 19:4-6: “Have you not read that the one who made them at the beginning ‘made them male and female,’ and said, ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’? So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.” Marriage, instituted by God, is between a man and a woman and serves as the foundation for family life. Voting for those who legislate otherwise undercuts this divine institution.
Justice and Mercy in Law and Society
Micah 6:8 calls us to “do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God.” True justice respects the dignity of every person and protects the innocent. While there are elements within both political parties that may call for reform and justice, the Democratic platform often promotes solutions that distort justice, prioritizing ideological goals over genuine moral order. Whether through leniency toward criminals, hostility to law enforcement, or undermining the family structure, these policies create chaos rather than fostering peace and respect for human dignity. Chaos is not of God.
New Yorkers: Vote “No” on the Propositions, Especially Proposition 1
For those of us voting in New York, Proposition 1 presents an urgent matter. While it is packaged as an issue of “rights” and “health care,” Proposition 1 poses a direct threat to parental authority, the sanctity of life, and family values. This proposition seeks to codify abortion in New York’s constitution, further entrenching abortion access even for minors, and would allow children to obtain both abortions and so-called “gender-affirming care” without parental knowledge or consent.
By stripping away parents' rights to guide and protect their children, Proposition 1 effectively usurps the sacred role of parents in making life-impacting decisions for their children. This proposal represents a profound breach of family integrity and religious freedom, promoting a culture of secrecy around critical medical procedures that could affect young lives forever.
As Catholics, we must stand firmly against any law or policy that infringes upon the natural rights of parents or that codifies actions in direct opposition to God’s commandments. Voting “No” on Proposition 1 is a clear stand for life, family, and the God-given role of parents.
Closing Thoughts
Casting a vote is not a statement of moral perfection, nor does it align us fully with every policy or value of a candidate. However, as Catholics, we must weigh which values come closest to aligning with God’s commandments and the teachings of the Church and thereby choose the candidate whom will do the least harm. A vote for Kamala and the current Democratic platform is a vote for policies that contradict clear biblical teachings, especially on issues of life, family, and freedom.
Tomorrow, I encourage my fellow Catholics to prayerfully consider their votes, aligning their decisions with the Gospel. Voting for God’s truth over any political trend is a way to stand with Christ, proclaiming His light in a world that so desperately needs it.
