Being Nice When It's Difficult
The St. Raymond Nonnatus Foundation for Freedom, Family, and Faith (SRNF) stands as a pillar of support for families navigating life’s most challenging moments. Founded in 2015 under the guidance of the Mercedarian Religious Order and Fr. Matthew Phelan, O.deM., this Catholic nonprofit (501c3) is dedicated to offering compassionate pastoral care for individuals and families in need. Rooted in the charisms of the Mercedarian Order, SRNF’s mission has grown from serving those affected by divorce and separation to embracing individuals facing a wide range of crises.
From its early days, the foundation has provided a lifeline for those coping with loss, relationship struggles, job instability, health crises, mental health challenges, and more. Over nearly a decade, SRNF has evolved into a trusted resource for countless families, offering free pastoral support and a message of hope through faith.
On December 12, 2024, the St. Raymond Nonnatus Foundation will host its Celebration Supper, an evening of fellowship, recognition, and joy. Held at the beautiful Ivy Hall in Philadelphia’s Overbrook neighborhood, this event promises to be a memorable gathering for all who attend.
Highlighting the evening will be the presentation of two prestigious awards
The Monstrance Award will be presented to Luke and Sara Ertel of Montgomery County, PA, for their extraordinary contributions to the Church.
The Family Life Award will honor Bob and Ruth Arata of Delaware County, PA, for their tireless dedication to promoting the values of family and faith.
In addition to celebrating these inspiring couples, attendees will hear from speakers, including Fr. Matthew Phelan, O.deM., Dr. Anne DeSantis, Executive Director of SRNF (author of this article), and Mickey Kelly, Board President of SRNF. Guests can look forward to a delightful evening of delicious food, engaging talks, and uplifting fellowship.
Whether you attended this event or are just learning about SRNF, the foundation invites everyone to become part of its mission. Your support—through attending events, sharing the message, or contributing to —helps SRNF continue to provide free, life-changing pastoral care to those in need.
