Let Go, Let God

Many of us have heard the saying: “Let God and Let God.” I wanted desperately to help my loved ones with the problems that they are struggled with day in and day out. I see the problem looming before me that is causing so much pain and anguish in my loved one’s life and mind as well. I should be able to ease their pain somehow, someway I thought.
Well, all my attempts of helping, only made me irritable, restless and discontent and caused my loved ones to also be very irritable with me. I have learned through bitter experience that I have to first admit I am powerless over other people and their journey. I would also like the freedom to make decisions about my life as well even if those decisions are harmful to me.
I am learning to detach from my loved ones overwhelming problems and to “Let Go and Let God” take care of them. I have found the Surrender Novena by Fr. Dolindo Ruotolo very helpful in surrendering my loved ones to Jesus and placing them in the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary. I pray this surrender pray every day.
When I feel like I’ve once again slipped into anxious thoughts and worries over my loved-ones, I close my eyes and say “O Jesus, I surrender myself to You, take care of everything.” Then I add “Jesus I surrender my loved ones to you, take care of everything. Jesus, I trust in you.
Some days it is easier to surrender than other days but I continue to surrender my loved ones and myself to Jesus. When I do with trust, then the peace of Jesus reigns in my heart and I can go forth and live my life with joy today. Also, I am able to love my loved ones without controlling their actions.

We each face difficult problems in today’s world but Jesus wants us to be overcomers and follow Him each day on our journey towards Heaven.
