So many chapters in our Book of Life. So many. Some are short and some a little longer. Nevertheless, it's always bittersweet, because there's a new beginning and an ending. Just as soon as you get nestled in and, comfortable, life can change in the blink of an eye. All chapters are learning lessons and Stepping Stones toward the Heavenly Kingdom.
Chapters in growing up. Chapters in a marriage. Chapters of your children and now your grandchildren. Chapters of friends who have come and now are gone. Important details recorded by the eyes of God and placed in our Book of Life. He sees and knows everything.
I want to have the next Chapters of my Life have meaning. Not that the chapters I've already lived didn't. But I mean I want them to show that I learned something. The purpose has already been established. Did I learn that lesson of that chapter? Sometimes. Other times I had to reread and correct the flaws in order to move on to my next chapter.
Some of my chapters are hard for me to reread as I think about how many times my Lord asked me to surrender and I fought Him tooth and nail. Usually, the next chapter runs a bit more smoothly because I learned. But it was hard, like I said before, learning the lesson in order to move on.
Moving on, I noticed, was so hard in so many chapters. Like moving on from being a mama to a sweet baby, then to a toddler, then to a school ager to a teenager and ultimately to a full-fledged adult. I learned you have to let go in order for them to write their chapters in their book. Being a mother stays with you forever and I find it's not always welcomed the way you thought it should be. Once they have experience the chapters in their life you have to surrender them back to God. Because ultimately they were on borrow anyway, as they came first from the Hand of God and was lovingly put in your charge by Him.
The chapters in our book of life. A novel, if you succeed in trying and had kept trying. Or a wasted magazine, if you give up and try it on your own making yourself the leading star. When all along, we are all just characters in the Holy Book of God.
