The Disordered Desire to Eliminate ‘Disorder’
In our age of confusion, if we truly want to make America great again, which necessarily means 'holy again', we need a simple, shorthand way of understanding how we got into the mess we're in and how we can get out; a sort of "Culture of Death for Dummies" manual as a reference for inspiration. Any such summary will necessarily focus on the three building blocks of the new culture built in the past 50 years, which goes deeper than politics into the realm of morality. These are contraception, fornication, and abortion, the anti-life trinity of modern times that provides the foundation and support for many of the other ills besetting us today; i.e., obstacles to our flourishing and happiness. Let's give it a shot.
In the 1960s, 'the pill' was invented and the contraception revolution brainwashed a generation into believing the feminine principle of humanity was deficient. The desire for independence rendered the beauty of nurturing and life-giving as demeaning. Since nature abhors a vacuum, this sterilization of women with the pill led them to seek fulfillment elsewhere, into areas less fulfilling. This was the first major domino to fall in our sexual-revolution-turned-culture-of-death-turned-age-of-insanity. Elites and politicians today would not be questioning "What is a woman?" had this primary domino not dropped.
That said, not only does our physical nature abhor a vacuum, but our social nature does too. To create a new balance in society between the sexes, the masculinization of women gradually brought about the feminization of men. The media establishment trashing men and "toxic masculinity" for decades has contributed to males having less initiative, homosexuality being normalized, and men identifying as women playing in women's sports. In summary, the demonic movement that began by bashing femininity ended in bashing masculinity – leading to mass confusion between the sexes in what may rightly be called our age of insanity.
Only 50 years ago Americans knew sex was for marriage and abortion was murder. As contraception separated sex from babies AND sex from marriage, it's no coincidence that as 'body count' (of sex partners) increased, body count (of dead babies) increased. This is where we are today – a confused people with broken families and over 70 million preborn fatalities and counting.
While many of us may feel a sense of hope now that an anti-woke administration is about to take over the White House, our problems lie much deeper than politics. In fact, if we just scratch the surface we may see that every member of Trump's 'dream team' cabinet supports the carnage wrought by in-vitro fertilization and abortifacient pills. The truth is, if we move from effect to cause, abortion will not end until sex is again understood as the seal of the sacred bond of marriage. And sex won't be reserved for marriage again until contraception is rejected. And contraception will not be rejected unless God reigns again in people's hearts – the true God that loves the sinner and hates the sin.
It's very apparent that we will not make America great again until we make America chaste again (MACA). And we will not make America chaste again until we rediscover the purpose of life by becoming God-fearing again – in the healthy sense of the term.
So, let's make 2025 a year of renewal, politically – but, more importantly, spiritually and culturally. When God is King, a culture of life, family, and happiness prevail. When self is king, a culture of death, selfishness, and depression abound. The choice is ours: "I call heaven and earth to witness this day: I have put before you life and death, blessing and curse. Choose life—that you and your offspring shall live (Dt 30:19).
