Back in the 60s and 70s, there was a popular singing duo called the Righteous Brothers. Once questioned about how their Stage name came about they answered “We were once performing, and someone raised their hand and asked how we came upon the name of “Righteous Brothers for our name, and we shared how in the early days when we were on Stage someone from the audience shout out very loudly when our song ended saying “That’s righteous brother.” And that is how the name Righteous Brothers was adopted.
Therefore, righteousness is a good quality in a person. That being said, we would never want to become over-righteous in that we compare ourselves with others and decide that they are not living as morally as they should, or not as well as we are living our lives.
It is also morally correct to allow God to judge others, and we can only compare ourselves with ourselves. How we are today, and how we could do better. There is an old saying that goes like this; “Whenever we point a finger at someone in criticism, we are pointing three fingers at ourselves.”
Matthew 25: 31-46 Those who live in service to Christ, also live to help and serve others because Jesus said; “What you do for the least of my brethren, you do unto Me.” Unless we give of ourselves, we can never know how good it feels. This is because no one can outdo God. When we live to serve Him through acts of kindness to others, God rewards us in ways that are often beyond our expectations.
