Self-pride Or Self-respect? Defined For Us
What Is Our Platform?
Just as politicians defend their platform, and are guided by governmental rules and standards, so too are we loyal to the platform on which we stand. It is not by governmental rules and regulations that we stand, but by God’s standards those of the Ten Commandments.
In describing our Government’s Laws and God’s Laws, we realize that principles and values are always associated with God, and we hope our government always keeps those same principles and values at the center of all of their Laws as well.
Taking a meaningful look inside ourselves, we would do well to examine our principles and values. In checking our motivations, we are helping to ensure that we remain on track with living as we believe one should live his or her life.
Principles and values (beliefs) are those qualities that we want to practice and see in others. We cannot ask for more of another than we are willing to give. Some of these values include honesty, sincerity, understanding, respect, and empathy.
There are many Crossroads that we approach as we travel through our lives, some of these Crossroads often present options and challenges. We must decide whether to take the easy path that could compromise our principles and values, and cause regret in retrospect. Challenges are those unexpected curves in the road. Taking on those curves in the road, the challenges are often made automatically as we see them as our only choice as they line up with our inner beliefs of what we believe to be right. And by “right” I am inferring that they are the best choices for attaining the benefit of God’s blessing for ourselves and others.
Why then do we often choose the wrong path? Perhaps this is because we are being tempted or led by the Evil One. Sometimes, we simply follow the path of others which can lead to monetary enrichment or temporary self-satisfaction. Therefore, at the end of our lives, we will either be grateful that we were loyal to our platform or regret that we strayed.
