Simon says
If you're homeless, that means you're poor.
Will stands outside the local Walmart holding a sign that says ”God bless". It doesn't read "please help"or "please give", it says "God bless". When you pull up beside him his smile lights up the sky. He has no upper teeth and his face looks weathered. His clothes are meek but his attitude is joyful. As the people pass him by, his smile never leaves his face. My daughter and I have considered him our friend. We say hello and pass him a bag with the sandwich, cookies and something to drink. I pray for him and all of the homeless in my nightly prayers, remembering to thank God for the roof over our own heads and the food that nourishes us.
I say to him, "how are you doing Will?" He says he's waiting for an apartment to live in. It's probably City funded. He looks disabled and needy. My heart goes out to him. Yes you have to be wary about things like this, but the bottom line is that you give to the poor from your heart. Not expecting a thank you or knowledge of where your money or donated goods is going. God is watching.
The moral of "Charlie and the Chocolate factory", is children who are honest and well behaved will be rewarded. Well, aren't we all God's children? All God is asking of us is to behave and be kind and to love, and our reward is great! It's heaven.
People can be homeless even n their own homes. They can despair and loneliness can creep in. Just imagine those who have no home or no food. Their plight is unmeasurable. Imagine also, if that were you. How you would depend on the generosity and love of someone.
God bless the homeless. The poor. The hungry. Thank God daily for your blessings and never give up the chance to help someone in need.
God is watching.
