A Lesson in Faith from a Priest
The morning sun shines upon us; the Light of God shines within us!
As we yearn for light to guide our path so will we find the Light of God is always the Brilliance of whom he is. When Christ entered our world and assumed humanity he brought within his person a light that will never diminish. It isn’t as though we use a lamp since Christ is the Light of the world. “What came to be through him was life, and this life was the light of the human race. The light that shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” (Jn 1: 1 - 5).
Because of his affliction, he shall see the light in fullness of days; Through his suffering, my servant shall justify many, and their guilt he shall bear. (Is 53: 11). This follows the 4th Suffering Servant song.
As each person looks to Christmas for that Light of the world to shine in their hearts, the Passion of Christ becomes that Light that will be our guide into eternity. For without the Incarnation that brought the Son of God to the reality of his forgiveness this celebration of the Nativity will wait forever until we believe why Jesus was born.
So this is Christmas, the song goes, written and sung by John Lennon, reminds us of a mystery brought to us that changed the entire world, not just in Israel but throughout the entire world. Those who believe are always marveled at the pomp and circumstance Christians around the world are open to this marvelous event. Those who by chance enter a Church on Christmas eve are in for an eye-opening spectacle that is a once in a lifetime event that may stay with them for life. That’s when the Holy Spirit is at work unifying unbelievers with a prompting from those of us who are already there.
Without light we shall stumble; to find that light, which is God, we must walk from the crib and the hay that comforted Christ to the Cross on Calvary that comforts us. So this is Crhristmas! The forgiveness of our sins.
