The Word Born
Samson
There once was a barren maiden
Whose hope was always to Heaven
Her hope and her prayer
To one day bear
A son whom she would give to the Lord
A son who would one day make her proud
Her wish granted by our Heavenly Father
Samson a fine son born to his father and mother
Born strong and with the lord a protector of his kinsman
From the hand of the terrible Philistine
He protected all until he was had
By his wife a Philistine named Delilah who was terribly bad
She stole away his strength
By cutting his hair of great length
Blinded then he was by enemies
Hated by them were his people the Israelites and their families
Jailed and strung between temple columns tall
His strength returned in time for his foes to fall
With might and help from God the posts he pushed
The temple around him and his enemies crushed
Victorious because of our Lord is Samson
A man stronger than any lion
A man whose strength came from only God above
This man kept his hope and faith in the only person he could always trust and love
We too should learn from Samson
To trust always in our Lord in Heaven
Amen
