The Peace of winter
Well it's coming again! A new year! A new beginning. A fresh start... If we resolve to make it that way.
I don't know how many times I vowed to exercise more, or to cut down on sweets, or to be more mindful of things that really matter and I fall flat on my face. Picking myself up (with the grace of Gods Strong Arms, of course), and trying, trying again. I want to be a woman of my word when it comes to the promises I make to myself and especially to God.
This life and this world cannot get brighter, unless the help of God is invoked daily. We cannot achieve victory without the help of the Angels and the Saints. They want us to succeed! Where on the other hand, the evil one wants us to fail.
Our resolutions must include listening to the words of Christ. Following the ways of Mary, our Mother, and resolving to sin no more. Forget about the sweets. Heaven is much sweeter! Making Jesus smile is a good resolution. Our sins make Him sad. Therefore, when we "resolve" to Him , we are also "absolved". Our good intentions are not overlooked, but we must follow through. Break those nasty habits and do what is right and good. Resolve to listen more to that inner voice that tells us God is there and that He loves us. Calming the mind and soul is an excellent exercise. Closing your eyes and picturing Jesus, Mary, Joseph, the Angels of heaven, the Saints, the Martyrs, and you're sweet and loyal Guardian Angel is worth the time spent on doing so.
Resolutions are good, but don't make them too difficult. Make them within your reach, slowly and meaningfully. One good resolution accomplished is worth much more than 10 resolutions unaccomplished.
I resolve to resolve.
