The Innocence of Man
Not Worthy
Have you ever walked through a desert
Wearing only sandals pants a hat and shirt
It doesn’t matter what you’re wearing
The sun the heat continues to keep on bearing
Imagine now trying to live off this land
With no one around to offer a hand
Your water from springs or a cactus
Your food insects probably got there’re not the fastest
This is what John the Baptist did every day
But animal skins are the clothes he wore to keep the sun away
He did have a river to baptize and drink out of I presume
Locusts with honey was the food he did consume
Even our Lord spent forty days and nights here
Tempted by the Devil whom He did not fear
But neither complained or sought comfort
No they used this hearty diversion to focus on prayer and thought
Do we two-thousand years later
Even try to live even a bit as that type of martyr
Giving up our ego clothes phones cars and stuff
Things we claim make our life not so rough
Maybe rough is what we need
To move our thinking to make us heed
John and Jesus both gave us warning
Do what God says don’t be ignoring
Maybe then it’s worth trying to not be so worthy
Maybe it’s time to spiritually try and get our hands dirty
To give up our wants egos and desires
To do only His Will and avoid the endless fires
Amen
