The Father's Voice
A Blank Page
Submitted by Thomas Stidl
On New Years Day, I awakened at my usual time of 7:45AM, did my early morning chores, and then went into the home office for reflective meditation and prayer. While praying, I noticed an old white note pad on my desk. It had nothing written on it. I began to reflect on how at the start of a new year that our lives are similar to the blank notepad. You can consider our “life pad” to have three hundred sixty five pages of blank paper. Some of us will have a few less sheets as determined by the will of God if we are to live throughout the year. Let’s not get nosey to see if we will live the entire year by counting the pages if that were possible. Rather, we should take one page or day at a time. Our resolve should be to accomplish the will of God for ourselves on a daily basis.
We must be ambassadors of God to our fellow human beings. Let all human beings in your daily workings know by your thoughtfulness, words, and deeds that you are a child of God and they are children of God also. Treat all people that you meet each day with love and cheer. Remember that all the deeds you accomplish are being recorded on that once blank page. We must always be a caring person for all the animals, be they tame or wild, that we see. Whatever you do will be recorded on that blank page. We must be caring stewards of the earth. God crowned all humankind with the responsibility of caring for our planet. Time will pass very quickly throughout the day. In the evening of that day when we return to our meditations, we will see what we have accomplished whether good or bad. We can then ask God to bless the good that was done and forgive the evil that has been done that day. We must pray that the evil does not corrupt anyone’s morals and lead people astray. By this action we make amends for our evil acts. This is our daily penance. We then ask God to give us a good night of rest so the we can serve Him more ardently tomorrow if that be his Holy will for us.
We should always have faith in Divine Mercy. It is limit-less as Saint Faustina has taught. Above all, do not put off for tomorrow what you can do today. Tomorrow may never come so do not procrastinate. If tomorrow comes, do not worry about it ahead of time. God will give you the actual graces necessary to overcome all obstacles.
In the meantime, HAPPY NEW YEAR and enjoy the time God has graciously given you.
Until next time, Laus Tibi, Christe. Deo Gratias. Gloria Tibi Domini. Praise be to God. See you in Paradise.
