God's Wisdom Is What I Seek
“Do not look forward in fear to the changes in life; rather, look to them with full hope that as they arise, God, whose very own you are, will lead you safely through all things; and when you cannot stand it, God will carry you in His arms. Do not fear what may happen tomorrow; the same understanding Father who cares for you today will take care of you then and every day. He will either shield you from suffering or will give you unfailing strength to bear it. Be at peace, and put aside all anxious thoughts and imaginations.” By St. Francis De Sales
Great words of encouragement from St. Francis De Sales. It nips the “fear” right in the bud before it has a chance to fester and grow in my heart. Our lives are always changing causing us sometimes to entertain thoughts of fear and a whole lot of “what ifs” putting us in a very vulnerable place. The fear can open the door for the Evil One to play havoc with our emotions and lead us to tumble down the hill of dreadful thoughts of what might happen tomorrow.
For me I can choose to play the fear game causing me so much stress and dread of tomorrow; or I can choose to look to the changes taken place with hope as they arise. I can embrace this hope for tomorrow because God will always lead me safely through all things.
I just have to remember that through all the difficult, heart breaking and challenging changes in the past, God was there even carrying me to a place of safety and peace. God is my strength and in Him I place my trust. For today, I choose to trust in Jesus knowing that He alone is my Rock and my Stronghold. I have nothing to fear.
Reflection:
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41: 10
