How should we categorize the differences life throws at us?
What are we doing with our free time?
Perhaps a leading question when the time element for most people is taken up leaving very little time for extracurricular activities. Of course the activity portion of most busy people is usually not important enough to consider useful for charitable concern when the needs of many are not important to get involved in.
When anyone wants to give a little of their extra time doing for others it takes an extraordinary human to make an opening in a busy schedule to meet the needs sometimes for strangers. Yet, the disciples Jesus chose to follow him were not the type that would follow just anybody in doing for strangers. Jesus knew his choice of picking dedicated individuals that would stand by him in his most dire moments had to have a deep willingness of goodwill and care for other human beings. How about the Pharisees who already were well versed in Sacred Scripture? Or people of great stature in the community who already understood the facets of governing the downtrodden?
Neither of these types would work since they never would allow a new and untried attitude that only pure and innocent beings could hold dear to their hearts when the world was waiting for this promise of God.
Lovers of your teaching have much peace; for them there are no stumbling blocks. I look for your salvation, Lord, and I fulfill your commands. I observe your precepts and decrees; all my ways are before you. (Ps 119: 165 - 168).
Imagine how Jesus looked for those who held close to their beliefs that what these followers adhered to because it is people who care for people that makes the difference between those who are Powers that Be and the rest of society.
In your acceptance of being called by your pastor asking for some of your time for the many who have little faith and seem to stumble in the understanding of Church affiliation and finding Christ in the gathering of believers who do more than just attend Church Services.
The Incarnation was not just a test of finding believers in the world, it became the very tenet that would send prophets into a world of little concern for each other and the few who would bring the kingdom of fruition to the ends of the earth.
This is you; a prophet when you preach, write, hold a hand, and lift up the poor in Spirit. Christ not only called 12 men and many other disciples to reach into a world that was ready to hear and announce the Good News; and is calling many of you to do the same.
God called messengers to remind his people to find repentance and receive His covenant of forgiveness. His call has not waned! His call for more messengers has not stopped. You are one and being humble is the criterion he uses to send his call.
