Do you feel you are a martyr, do you want to be a martyr?
Are We In The END TIMES?
Eileen Renders
With today's world conditions, many are asking themselves if we are in the End Times, and this is because of contention between countries, environmental issues, and the violence we see and hear about from day to day. Some of us believe that is not so as we have lived through many catastrophic events, and can recall many times in history when our ancestors believed they were in the End Times, yet that did not occur. Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed because of their sinfulness while Noah was told to build his ARC from a warning of the floods that were to come.
While I cannot include all that is written in our Catholic bible regarding these events, I encourage all to read Genesis: 6-8.
However, in the Catholic bible, in Genesis:6-13 it is quoted; “And God said to Noah, “I have determined to make an end of all flesh, for the earth is filled with violence because of them; now I am going to destroy them along with the earth. Make yourself an ark of cypress wood; make rooms in the ark, and cover it inside and out with pitch. 6:17 “For my part, I am going to bring a flood of waters on the earth, to destroy from under heaven all flesh in which is the breath of life; everything on the earth shall die.”
There are many verses in Genesis of God’s warnings of floods and the perishing of human life due to violence, sin, and more. Yet God was telling Noah how to survive, and we, you and I, are still living here on earth. We understand God is all-powerful, He is our Creator. We also know of the love, mercy, and kindness He has shown to humanity in many ways.
Yet we are left with a couple of concepts that tell us no matter God’s love and mercy for the creatures He created, He at some time has promised that this world will come to an end. Like Noah, we should be warned that we should build an ARC around our hearts and souls to protect us from Satan, from thinking or doing evil, from sin. We must be ready, and we can do so by visiting the Sacraments and practicing love, forgiveness, and mercy to all in need.
Is what is happening now, such as War, Fires, Floods, and violence more than a warning to us? Over and over it has been said; “No one knows the day or the time when our life ends.” Whether it is the world coming to an abrupt end, or our particular life coming to an end, we need to live each day as though it were our last because it could be our last day on earth. Accidents, disease, floods, fires, or violence.
Let us join together and work for Christ to become disciples of Christ, advocates for peace, and teachers, in the capacity and through the special gifts God provides us with to be of service to Him through helping bring in His sheep.
