Prayer to St. Florian and a Fatima Prayer for the People of California

Over the last several days, massive blazes have engulfed Southern California and as we mourn the lives lost and pray for those affected and for the firefighters who put their lives on the line, we also pray for the people of California, that they may use this trial to turn back to God and learn to revere Him. Hollywood in particular has for a long time shunned Christian moral values and disrespected God in movies, TV shows, and in everyday life. God in His Providence and goodness, although we might not see it as goodness at first, often uses trials both big and small to get our attention and pull us back toward Him. Let us pray for the firefighters and for the people of California using prayers to St. Florian, patron saint of firefighters, and the prayer taught to the children at Fatima for reparation and the conversion of sinners.

Prayer to St. Florian:

Oh, Almighty God, Whose great power and eternal wisdom embraces the universe, watch over all firefighters. Protect them from harm in the performance of their duty to fight fire, save lives, and preserve property. We pray, help them to keep our homes and all buildings safe day and night. We recommend them to Your loving care because their duty is dangerous. Grant them Your unending strength and courage in their daily assignments. Dear God, protect these brave persons. Grant them Your almighty protection and unite them safely with their families after duty has ended.

Prayer of Reparation and for the Conversion of Sinners:

My God, I believe, I adore, I hope and I love You. I ask pardon of You for those who do not believe, do not adore, do not hope and do not love You. Most Holy Trinity, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, I adore You profoundly. I offer You the Most Precious Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Jesus Christ, present in all the tabernacles of the world, in reparation for the outrages, sacrileges, and indifferences by which He is offended. And through the infinite merits of His Most Sacred Heart and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I beg of you the conversion of poor sinners.

The Chaplet of Divine Mercy is also an effective prayer for those affected by the wildfires, to appeal to the mercy of God to put a stop to them, and for the conversion of the people in California, particularly in Hollywood. Let us keep them all in our prayers and ask that the fires be brought to a swift end and that the people of California will once again honor and revere God.
