The whipping post
Some people knew, but many did not. That is, that they were in the presence of a Queen.
God knew. The angels knew, Mary's parents knew. But even our beloved Saint Joseph did not know until the Angel of Heaven visited him. The maid servants that tended to Mary and Elizabeth at the greeting between them did not know. The shepherds in the fields on the night of our Lord's birth did not know. Did the wise men know? Maybe, but they came to adore and present gifts to the baby, the King, when all along there sat before them, a Queen. Mary.
The people that saw Her wailing and crying, following our Jesus to His crucifixion, did not know it. They acknowledged Her as a mother, but did not realize that She was also a Queen. There is only one King and one Queen. Jesus and Mary.
Jesus, Her Son crowned Her in the heavens with the glorious hand of God and the Holy Spirit. The Angels bow down before Her. Her mantle is spread over the world. She is Queen of Heaven and of Earth. She was created for this from the beginning of time. Replacing the old Eve with the new Eve, she reigns in Heaven and on Earth. Her fragrance is sweet. Her touch is so tender. Her love for all humanity is our comfort. Laying our petitions in Her Royal Holy hands is our sure way for the King, our God, to listen.
Oh! Heavenly Queen, our Mother Mary. We honor you as our hope in our salvation. For it is through Mary, our Queen, we come to Jesus our King.
