A Scandalous God
Why must we become like little children to enter the kingdom of heaven? It occurred to me at Mass that each time we celebrate together, we are entering heavenly mysteries of Gods love. The love of His eternal life as a community of persons.
Ok, so this has been theologized before, but maybe there is more. God's nature and essence is a gentle, supreme love. We were made to know this love, we were created to crave it, we long to be drawn into intimacy and know we are not alone.
When we were children, when we were innocent, we took life simply. Before wounds, scars and attacks robbed us of our ability to trust, we took people at their word. Truth was a given. I believe the kingdom of heaven is a kingdom of restored innocence. Jesus paid the blood price to purchase our freedom and give us the opportunity to return to an innocent way of life again. He came to show us how to forgive past the wounds and scars. He leads us if we allow Him to a path of following Him and learning to return to trust. If we dare, he can lead us from a way of fear to a daring adventurous life only possible with trusting His supreme goodness. He begs us, gently knocking pleading, trust Him, trust Him.
Become a child again. Trust gives us the freedom to enjoy God's life with the wonder and freedom of a child's joy. Trust is the key that opens the door to an intimacy of communing with the Persons of the Trinity. God longs to dance with His children. He wants to share His life and joy. He wants to play with us! But first, we must become trusting as children. Allow Him to adopt you into His life. Ask to be free of an orphan spirit of fear. He has so much to give you. He is a Good Father. Trust Him. It's ok. Be simple in faith and take Him at His word. He is waiting for You
