Happy New Year, again
Winters, for some reason, always bring me peace. I don't necessarily love the ice pack roads, or the bitter wind, but being in my home, I find a peace and security from all of that. I do love snuggling in with extra socks on and a warm fire in the fireplace. I have to admit my fireplace is electric, but it still puts out the heat and looks like a real flame is burning so the placebo in my mind can be complete. Ha. I'll take it. The white sky at night, lights the streets up on its own with the undaunted threat of a soft snow coming and the hot chocolate tops it off to make me settle in for a cozy night.
Ah! The Seasons! Each one brings its own special newness and traits. I'm not a Summer girl. I hate the heat. It makes me not able to function so easy.. Going in from the heat of the day to a usually frozen home from the air conditioner blasting is not enjoyable to me. Granted I do appreciate air conditioning, but it's just not my favorite. I would rather come inside to a warm house and slip my house coat and house shoes on and sip on a cup of hot coffee. I don't feel like drinking coffee in the Summer and I do love coffee. For some reason, it just hits the spot on a cold Winter's day. Part of my Peace.
The seasons change in their rotation, but that's one thing God never does. He never changes. I can rely on Him remaining the same day after day no matter what season it is. The Peace of Winter makes me feel His presence more for some reason. There's not much one can do when the roads are snow packed and icy and the weather man is telling us constantly to stay in. I say, "thank you Jesus" with a smile and settle in. Maybe I'll bake some cookies, maybe make some soup or better yet, more praying. I can always use a little more prayer time, and what better time than the "Peace of Winter". I'm a homebody anyways, so I do appreciate this Season immensely.
There's a time for everything, just as Jesus taught us. A time to reap and a time to sow. A time to build, a time to tear down. A time to dance, a time to weep, and the time to have "Peace" amid all the troubles that can surround us. Winter is a good time to reflect. A good time to look for the peace that only God can provide. In the cold, wintery nights and days, try looking out the window and taking a deep breath, offer the goodness of God to Him who provides us with the Seasons. Have Peace my friends. Let the Peace of Winter make your gratitude for your Summer all the more special. For God is a God of All seasons. Winter just happens to be my favorite.
