Background
The greater Philadelphia area is jubilant today after the Eagles' SuperBowl victory last evening. While I have never been a football fan, I reluctantly acknowledge that it may be
good for the country in a roundabout way
We've made the front page of all the world's papers today
Yet, we don't honestly address the absolutely prohibitive cost!
A Profound, Out-of-Print Work
As per my my 9/13/18 Amazon review of an autobiography:
Dr Bennet Omalu is the brilliant, exquisitely credentialed physician/neuropathologist/medical examiner, who exposed the horrific, inescapable danger of football to the human brain....
The respect owed to each human extends even beyond the human body's being alive....the human body is to be treated with great care and respect. Though he is not a theologian, Dr Omalu grasps this great truth, seemingly better than anyone....
- "A helmet keeps someone from lacerating their scalp, breaking their skull open, or suffering some type of bleeding inside the skull. It does not cushion the brain as it impacts the skull in a headfirst collision of bodies. Nothing can protect the brain in such an impact" (p. 144).
- "....in the process of conception between a man and a woman, God invites us to partake in His glory and share in His holiness and godliness. The creation of life is a holy experience...." (p. 256).
- "....Awareness is not enough, for, as God's Word teaches us, 'wisdom is vindicated by her works'" (p. 267).
Conclusion
When they allow their precious children to engage in such highly dangerous sports as football, I find it difficult to believe that parents properly understand the risks. The risks are horrific and inescapable.
