The Eight Beatitudes - A self-examination
As I approach You, my God
Eileen Renders
Tempted by the world, I was blind and could not see,
I cried out in the darkness, and You set me free.
You invited me to follow You, and always to myself be true.
Stumbling to my feet, I followed Your lead.
Uncertain where I was going, You revealed to me a heart that my sin had caused to bleed.
Understanding came to me how I was being shown mercy from our God from up above,
I soon realized that I had been blessed by the Sacred Heart, the heart of consuming Love.
We were created as imperfect creatures requiring teaching, nurturing, and love.
Yet, as ungrateful, distracted children, we turned our thoughts and sights,
Seeking to explore and drown in earthy pleasures and delights.
I fell again and cried out to You Father, and once again You showed Your mercy.
Your light was warm and bright, like a Lighthouse amid a deep sea.
Begging Your forgiveness, I pledged to place all my trust in Thee.
My eyes have opened, and my heart is becoming pure, for all that I want is to be with
You Lord, forever more.
