Prayer for An Increase in Faith

When he entered Capernaum, a centurion approached him and appealed to him, saying, “Lord, my servant is lying at home paralyzed, suffering dreadfully.” He said to him, “I will come and cure him.” The centurion said in reply, “Lord, I am not worthy to have you enter under my roof; only say the word and my servant will be healed. For I too am a person subject to authority, with soldiers subject to me. And I say to one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and to another, ‘Come here,’ and he comes; and to my slave, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.” When Jesus heard this, he was amazed and said to those following him, “Amen, I say to you, in no one in Israel have I found such faith. And Jesus said to the centurion, “You may go; as you have believed, let it be done for you.” And at that very hour his servant was healed. Matt 8:5-10 & 13

Prayer for an Increase in Faith

Lord,

I stumble, afraid to trust in you

I fear the world that surrounds me

wondering if I will have what I need

putting my faith in circumstance

in things I have been conditioned to believe in

things that do not matter

were I a more faithful servant

I would not want

nor worry,

nor even pause

You have bestowed upon me

gifts beyond measure

what others consider weakness

You have made strength

still, I lack confidence

my poor judgement

and inadequate faith

become stumbling blocks

obstacles of my own construct

creating doubt and fear

where none should exist

the world says I can’t

but that is a lie

Lord,

give me the faith of the centurion

sure and confident in my abilities

knowing that Your word does not return void

grant me the courage

to set aside doubt and fear

to move forward into Your presence

boldly proclaiming You

Lord and Savior

through my work

You have created me

Your promises are fulfilled

let me be a small part of Your creation
