Yes and No
As the years have passed, and I grow deeper into my prayer life, I'm understanding more and more what Jesus means when He says "just talk to me". Prayer is not always calculated reading. Our daily prayers are quite important, very important. But we must also make time to just sit or kneel or lay there and just simply talk to Him who is the "greatest listener". He wants us to treat Him like a Father, a friend whom we can always turn to in every aspect of our lives. He doesn't just want to hear us begging, He wants to hear about our joys also. He wants to hear us tell Him we are thankful to Him in all of our blessings, and in all of our sorrows and needs. No better way to do that is to just plain "talk to Him".
Blessed are those who believe but have not seen. Just because our eyes cannot behold Him sitting in front of us, does not mean He is not there. In fact, He's more present than a lot of our friends who virtually come before us. Tell Him what your feeling, He wants to hear it. Close your eyes from the world and sit in the silence of the presence of Him who awaits our love and friendship and conversation as a good Father, awaiting us, so He can give us relief and Peace and comfort. If we can exclude our desires of how our trials outcome should be conducted, are Surrender makes our talk with God the most sincere. We are never alone. The Saints and sweet Angels of Heaven and our beloved Blessed Mother Mary, are always there for conversation. Just because we might think we are not worth listening to, doesn't mean that they think the same way. We are thinking with human minds, while they are thinking with heavenly minds. They await our presence. They await our words of love and need.
Shut the door that leads to the evil one and open the door that leads to God. He is listening.
