Ash Wednesday

Today we are reminded on this day we fast

By a cross on our forehead with palm ash

We are reminded of our humanness

Of our current behaviors and our sins

Today is the start of Lent

A time to reflect and to repent

It is also a source of joy and mercy

As we look forward to celebrating our Savior’s rise on Easter Sunday

We are reminded too of our Lord’s time in the desert

Forty days with no provisions and the Devil who would tempt

This is also a time of great preparation

As we look to celebrate Jesus’ death and resurrection

So prepare your heart and your soul

Pray to the Lord and be always mindful

For we never know when our time might arrive

Therefore always try to do His Will it will help save your life

Amen
