Our Holy Family
They came and the tomb was empty again. The woman whom they had loved, whom they called Mother. The body they mourned in death was gone. The woman chosen by God to bear His only begotten Son, the woman who watched our Lord and cared for Him from birth to manhood. Who heard the bitter words "a sword of sorrow shall pierce your heart". Who watched Her Son suffer and die and then cleaned His Holy body like only a mama could, has finally received Her Crown.
St Joseph and all of the Angels welcoming Her into Heaven, where they had been patiently waiting. Elated with such joy in Her coming to full circle of Her life. Her crown, Her Throne, Her Son awaited Her.
Good St John. Faithful caregiver to our Mother Mary. All those years, caring for Her, protecting Her, providing company and love, entrusted to him from the cross, probably mourned the most at this loss of Holiness here on Earth. Coming to the tomb, to find it empty was his joy, in a way, redefining the Resurrection, that His Master, Jesus, his teacher, had promised to all of us if we follow Him.
She quietly fell asleep. Probably with sweet melodious singing from the Angels of Heaven. Following the great light of God He provides to all of us, when we die in the state of Grace. Hope for us all and then assurance to us of what awaits us at our own deaths. Christ appearing above Her, with the Apostles and others gathered around, they released Her from this world into the "true" world.
Her "dormition" was for all to see and then have confidence that God is true to His Word.
We shall All rise one day. May our deaths be holy and our sleep be gentle as we rise to the Heavens to greet our Father, our Jesus, our Joseph, and our Mother Mary.
